Here are my Superman redesigns for ' Fortnightly Challenge.
I drew up two designs. One that is very safe and iconic. I must admit, there are elements of Jim Lee's design that I like. I like the sleeves and the S shield shape to the shoulder pads. I even like the v neck collar - just not on every single member of the Justice League. I made the cape yellow just cos I could and also, Superman has always been predominantly blue and red.
The second costume design was a bit more fun and light hearted. The design is more about the S shield branding. I thought that Jor-El would have the idea to jettison his son to another world to escape the cataclysmic death of Krypton but didn't have the cash to fund his space expedition. Jor-El approached Krypton's major soda corporation, Suc-a-Ryl Co-La, for sponsorship of his space program. Suc-a-Ryl Co-La agreed on the revisor that Jor-El's son wear a costume adorned with their logo. They called it 'Universal Branding' hoping to establish a market in another galaxy. Kal-El wears the costume proud believing it's a symbol representing the House of El when really it's a soda company's logo.
Played with a little asymmetry with the design just to make it a little interesting. Also tried to place the S shield shape around the costume.

I could see this as Kryptonian formalwear that he puts on for special occasions, but it might be a bit much for the day-to-day never-ending battle. Oh, and I'd lose the S-shield on the croch. Just a little ecchi.
